Question 1

What is MarkWise Africa?

Accepted Answer

MarkWise Africa is a digital attendance and intelligence platform for higher education. It captures in-person and online attendance into one institution-scoped register and turns it into trends institutions can act on.

Question 2

How do students check in to class?

Accepted Answer

In the room, students check in over Bluetooth, by scanning a QR code, or by entering a PIN, and lecturers can mark students manually when needed. For online classes, students verify with a device passkey.

Question 3

Does MarkWise work without an internet connection?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In-person attendance can be captured offline and synced later for verification, so unreliable campus connectivity does not break the register.

Question 4

How does MarkWise help prevent proxy attendance?

Accepted Answer

Marks are bound to the live session and verified in layers, including nearby Bluetooth presence and passkey checks, which helps deter students from checking in on behalf of others.

Question 5

Do we need to buy extra hardware?

Accepted Answer

No. Lecturers and students use the smartphones they already have, and administrators work from the web dashboard.

Question 6

What does MarkWise cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing is KSh 149 per student and lecturer account per semester, with every attendance feature included. See the pricing page for details.
