How MarkWise uses cookies

This page describes exactly what MarkWise's web application stores in your browser — we keep this list short on purpose. MarkWise does not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies of any kind.
1. The one cookie we set
sidebar_state — remembers whether the dashboard's navigation sidebar is expanded or collapsed, so it stays the way you left it the next time you sign in. It expires after 7 days, contains no personal data, and is never read by any third party.
2. Local storage, not a cookie, but worth explaining
Your sign-in session (an authentication token and basic profile details like your name and role) is kept in your browser's local storage, not a cookie. It stays on your device until you sign out or clear your browser's site data, and is only ever sent to MarkWise's own servers — never to a third party. 3. What we don't use
No advertising cookies, no third-party analytics or tracking pixels, and no cross-site tracking of any kind. MarkWise doesn't sell data or run ads, so there's nothing for those cookies to do here.
4. Managing cookies
Every browser lets you view, block, or delete cookies through its own settings. Blocking the one cookie described above only affects whether the dashboard sidebar remembers its last state — it doesn't affect your ability to sign in or use MarkWise.
5. Changes to this policy
If MarkWise ever starts using cookies for a new purpose, we'll update this page and the date above to reflect it.
